memory palace is a installation conceived for a 'movie theatre' where the usual screen is replaced by a circle of 27 modified guitar tuners with led displays. in reference to a common mnemonic of the standard guitar tuning -eddy ate dynamite good bye eddy- these tuners are arranged in a circle, simultaneously symbolizing the circular structure of the sentence and the recurring (and potentially endless) need to tune.
with the method of loci, the so-called memory palace, things to be remembered are associated with specific locations. here the words of the mnemonic each get assigned to a unique base position from which they move across the 'screen' - just like in an animated film. metaphorically speaking this memory palace is repeatedly build and then blown up again.
